09 - The mighty DRAKE! (So far we are pretty lucky)

We are on the boat! Christmas passed, I saw my best friends from Brazil, I got some gifts… so fun!

Right after Christmas we flew to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and from there to Ushuaia, one of the southernmost cities in the world, where we met the remainder of the crew. We slept one night in the boat (Docked at Clube Nautico Ushuaia) , woke up to do paperwork with the Argentinean Navy,  ate lunch and...

POOF! Anchors up, Antartica here we go!

Ushuaia is a beautiful city, specially when you look from the water. See you in 28 days, Ushuaia!  

We’re in the drake right now, and it’s SO much calmer than I expected! Sure it’s bumpy and rough, and I cant walk anywhere without holding onto something, but it’s so fun! Theres even a bar on the ceiling where I swing, since when it rocks to the left, if I’m holding on the bar, I swing! Imagine Monkey Bars on steroids!

I have a really small bunk bed that i share with Dad, and I get to sleep on the top where i literally bump my head if i try to seat down, but it’s nice! During the drake I like to lay there since I get less motion sick. :D

Remember when I said “I want to see whales, pray for me”? We hadn’t even LEFT Ushuaia fully before we saw TWO whales! We also saw the BIGGEST flock of penguins on an island!

I can see some PENGUINS!
