Last week, Dad bought the tickets! Let me explain how we get to where we will embark;
The boat will be waiting for us in Ushuaia, a small town that is the southernmost city in Patagonia, Argentina. Since Argentina is south of Brazil -which is where I was born and where my both grandmas live - we are going to fly from Atlanta to Sao Paulo, on the last day of school before Christmas break. We will spend some time there at our friends and grandma’s house, for Christmas! And then on December 26, we fly to Ushuaia, with a stop over in Buenos Aires.
The closest point to Antartica is the most southern tip of South America, which is almost 9.000 miles of where we live, if you consider our home and that point a straight line away. Thats ALOT, so it takes awhile to get there.
A little more about Ushuaia; Ushuaia is a small town in Argentina, and it’s right beside a canal, called ‘Beagle Channel’, which connects the Atlantic to the Pacific, and it was used a lot by travelers and merchants to cross the two oceans without having to trek through the timid ‘Cape Horn’ -sounds very spooky-. We will meet the crew members there. In Ushuaia, it’s one of the very little places in the world where you could be in a ski resort, and be looking at the beach and sea! My dad told me theres a lot of good food in Ushuaia too! -Yum!- He told me theres a crab we are going to eat as big as a king crab! -thats freaky, I don’t know if i’m going to eat that.- Centolla is what it’s called.
Ushuaia is where all the ships that go to Antartica leave from, from big to small, so thats where we are heading off from. Our plan is to be there by December 26, because Igor; our captain, wants us to set sail December 28, and that means by new years eve, we will be somewhere between South America and Antartica!
Well, thats it for today! I hope you guys will subscribe and stay in tune, because it’s just 2 MONTHS until we set sail! Have a great week !
Clara and Marina, centolla is do good! I really hope you guys like it!
